Our Family Legacy
Generations of Tradition
Tucked in a quiet side street off Makarios Avenue in Paphos Old Town, Laona has built an excellent reputation among those who seek the very best of traditional Cypriot cuisine. Recently renovated yet unchanged in spirit, we have been welcoming guests since 1986.
Owned by Chris, Koulla, and Andreas, Laona brings over 60 years of combined experience to your table. The food is prepared and cooked in the same way as by grandmothers and mothers before us—genuine dishes made with fresh local meats, vegetables, and plentiful Cypriot herbs, presented with genuine enthusiasm.
Our daily menu is written on the blackboard and changes with the seasons. Andreas and the team explain each dish in detail, from the spices to the slow-cooked methods. Typical offerings include rabbit stifado, peas with lamb, marinated pork in wine and coriander, stuffed vegetables, moussaka, fish in the oven, meatballs, and beef casserole. Most meals come with salad, and we often serve complimentary homemade cake and traditional Cyprus coffee. We have been recommended by The Rough Guide to Cyprus, Sunday Times Travel, and the Daily Telegraph, and we are proud to be one of the most recommended restaurants in Paphos.
"Fresh meats, local vegetables, and plentiful herbs—cooked with passion, the way it has always been done."
